Safer attachment intake for help desk requests
Collect the evidence needed for diagnosis while limiting exposed data, unsafe files, and unnecessary copies.
Direct answer
An attachment can shorten diagnosis, but it can also expose unrelated personal data or active secrets. Ask for the smallest file that proves the issue and tell the requester what to remove before sending it.
Record what the file is expected to show, who may access it, and where the approved record belongs. Do not move sensitive evidence into extra chat threads or personal storage simply because the ticket tool is inconvenient.
If a file suggests malware, account compromise, or a privacy incident, stop ordinary troubleshooting and use the approved security path. The support queue should preserve the report and route it without casually opening risky content.
Sample attachments for relevance, access, and retention. Check whether the specialist could explain the evidence without copying it everywhere and whether the customer received a safe, specific next step.
