Write a useful customer impact statement in a help desk ticket

Describe who is affected and what they cannot do so owners can rank work without guesswork.

Direct answer

Impact is more than an urgency label. State the affected users, function, time pattern, business consequence, and whether a workaround exists.

Separate what the customer reports from what support has verified. If the scope is still uncertain, say what evidence is missing and who will confirm it.

Use the impact statement when routing and updating the customer. It should help the next owner decide whether the request belongs in a normal queue or an incident path.

Compare impact statements with later outcomes. Improve the prompt when teams repeatedly overstate or understate the effect of similar requests.
