Customer language for help desk delays
Acknowledge waiting work accurately while explaining ownership and the next useful checkpoint.
Direct answer
A delay message should say what has been checked, what remains open, and who owns the next action. Keep the wording factual when the final outcome is not known.
Do not turn an internal target into a promise unless the responsible owner has confirmed it. Give a next checkpoint or event instead of inventing a completion time.
If the customer must provide one missing fact, ask only for that fact and explain why it matters. Avoid making the customer repeat the whole request.
Sample delay updates against later ticket history. Remove phrases that create false certainty and preserve wording that keeps the customer informed without overpromising.
