Choose better examples for help desk articles

Use representative examples that clarify normal paths, edge cases, and stopping points without exposing real customer data.

Direct answer

An article example should teach the decision a reader must make, not merely decorate the page. Select examples that cover the common request, an incomplete request, and one boundary case that shows when the documented path must stop.

Use fictionalized or minimized details and remove identifiers, secrets, and unnecessary customer context. Keep the product terms and observable conditions accurate enough that a specialist can recognize the scenario in a real ticket.

Explain why the example takes its path and what evidence would change it. Do not use an example to imply that a protected action is routine or that an outcome is guaranteed in every account.

Test examples with the tickets they are meant to support. If specialists copy the wording but miss the boundary, revise the example and the surrounding instruction together.
