Helpdesk customer consent research: 10 boundaries for assisted actions
How to distinguish guidance, customer-authorized assistance, and decisions that require a separate owner.

Methodology and findings
A customer asking for help does not automatically authorize every action available in a support tool. State what the specialist may explain, what the customer must confirm, and what an accountable owner must approve.
Record the requested action, confirmation signal, system scope, and result. Avoid treating a vague reply or a copied message as permission for a sensitive change.
Least-privilege guidance helps keep assisted work narrow: the role should be able to complete the approved lane without gaining unrelated edit, export, or administrative rights.
Review a sample of assisted actions for clear authorization and honest outcomes. When the boundary is unclear, update the article or escalation rule before expanding access.
